They call me TDW, short for Texas DreamWeaver and I’ve been caching since the fall of 2005.
I only have around 2100 finds but that’s because I have been active in geocaching in different ways.
I am a former Vice President and President of the TXGA (Texas Geocaching Association) as well as served on the planning committees for three Texas Challenge events. I also design a lot of trackable and signature items for cachers all around the world.
AND….. I grew up in Wichita Falls during the 70’s.
From 1967 – 1980, I called Wichita Falls my home. Attended school at Benjamin Franklin Elementary, Barwise Jr. High, S.H. Rider High School and my freshman year of college at MSU.
I grew up playing soccer on the empty fields next to Lake Wichita, did community service at the State Hospital, water-skied on Lake Arrowhead and backpacked with my buddies through the Wichita Mountains.
My family shopped for groceries at Piggly Wiggly and ate hamburgers from Scotty’s. Purchased tools, camping and stuff at Gibson’s, Kmart and Whites stores. And bought our clothes at the downtown Sears store. During high school and college, I stocked shelves at Treasure City (only store open on Sundays), ran the acid bath at an air conditioning factory and was a cameraman/reporter at both KFDX-TV and KAUZ-TV before leaving Texas for the next 15 years.
So, now I am returning for my 40 High School Reunion…. Rider Class of 1975. Since I have only returned to WF less than ½ a dozen times in the last 35 years, it was imperative that I take the opportunity to geocache in my old hometown.
Hope to make friends with a ton of Texoma Cachers, so post a WILL ATTEND.
See everyone on October 10, 2015. 7am - 9am!!! BTW, this place wasn’t here when I lived here, so I hope it has good pancakes!!!
