Church Lady of Carmela is one of six churches on the island. It is located on the main street through the village. Despite that fact, it is a little bit hidden from the average visitor's eyes and it stands there quiet and mysterious. It was built in 1670 by the religious brothers Matija and Simun Paulina. The brothers also opened the friary the same year when the church was built. At 1806, in Napoleon's time, the friary was closed.Juraj Barbic, who was born at Silba and emigrated to Argentina, renewed the church in 1922. Recently the church is in the process of being renewed again, a little bit changed on the outside but inside it has kept its old charm and secrecy.
