Geocache Description:

This cache provides a excellent view of the Corral de Tierra Valley...the area (Spanish for "Earthen Corral") received its name from the Rancho Corral de Tierra land grant. One can imagine in the opening lines to John Steinbeck's Pastures of Heaven when "sometime around 1776" a Spanish soldier stumbles onto a superb view and was:

"...stricken by the wonder he saw...a long valley floored with green pasturage...perfect live oaks grew in the meadows of the lovely place...and the hills hugged it jealously against the fog..."

ENJOY!
