Geo Boo Gang Series: Bo Woolensworth Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

GeoElmo6000: Sad news, the Geo Boo Gang has decided to disband their organization. They will, however, still remain friends!

This was a fun series to create. It was inspired by the Gates of Central Park series in New York, which is amazing puzzle series. It was also my first dabbling into graphic art; creating the photos of the Goo Boo Gang at famous cache sites as part of the puzzle background was a ton of fun. My goal was to add life to a puzzle series by putting an individual story into each writeup with a common overall story tying the series together.

Unfortunately the series as a whole turned out to be a little too tough and most people only found a couple of the caches. Oh well.

This was the last puzzle I created in the series but I honestly didn't like it. What Three Words is interesting but I only used it because my original idea, which involved the path and landing site of a high altitude balloon, didn't work well, and I wanted to get the series completed. This is the only cache in the series I'm happy to archive.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to solve this puzzle and find this cache!

Geocache Description:

The Geo Boo Gang is a social group made up of geocachers from northeastern New Jersey and the Lower Hudson Valley of New York. The Geo Boo Gang holds regular events, including monthly ice cream socials and quarterly dinners. They race each other for First to Finds and often run into each other on local trails.

It was during one of their ice cream socials that the following conversation occurred:

Olga: ... and that's how I developed a love for cooking.
Bo: Wait, I love to cook too. How did I never know this about you?
Cody: Well, all we usually talk about is geocaching. I don't think I really know much about any of you, besides the fact that you enjoy finding plastic food containers in the woods using a super-expensive satellite system!
Felicia: Hey, that gives me an idea! Why don't we create a puzzle series together; each of us would create a puzzle based on something that interests him or her? Olga or Bo could use cooking if they wanted to, for example, since they both love cooking. And then together we can create a final, bonus puzzle, based on all our individual puzzles. This will be a fun way to get to know each other better.
Cornelius: Caesar and I are brothers. Can we put together a puzzle as a team?
Balto: Jack and I hang out all the time. Can we create a puzzle together too?
Felicia: That sounds great guys! So we'll have six puzzles, which works out perfectly. Let's coordinate the bonus puzzle, and then we'll go create our individual puzzles on our own.

And that's how the Geo Boo Gang puzzle series was born.

Bo Woolensworth loves to cook, a passion she shares with her friend Olga Caramel. Bo learned this skill from her parents, who work as chefs in a small restaurant that they own in town.

Bo Woolensworth ready to start cooking

Bo has recently returned from a summer cooking camp, and is eager to share what she has learned with Olga. Today, Olga is coming over to spend the day working with Bo in the Woolensworth family kitchen, discussing the tips and tricks that Bo has picked up that have most helped her improve her own cooking.

”Bo, thank you for having me over” said Olga as she arrived at Bo’s house. “I hope you had a great time at camp! I can’t wait to hear what you learned while you were away.”

Olga and Bo discussing their hobby

“Thank you for visiting, Olga!” replied Bo. “The camp was great! Everything I learned has really helped to improve my cooking skills.”

“I’m so happy for you, Bo!” said Olga. “What did you learn at cooking camp that has helped you so much?”

“The most important thing I learned,” replied Bo, “is that by using the Three Words of Cooking every day, you will constantly improve your skills.”

“What three words are they?” asked Olga.

“The first word is ‘lows’,” replied Bo. “As you spend time in the kitchen, you will have many low points, including accidentally burning dishes, creating recipes that people don’t enjoy, and, as you begin a business, having days where no one seems to want to try your restaurant. The important thing to remember is that these are low points, and that if you can push through them, things will only get better.”

“I understand, and think that’s a great point,” said Olga. “Push through the lows and you will experience the highs. What’s the second word of cooking?”

“The second word is ‘doctor’, replied Bo. “Doctors do a lot of important research into the nutrition in foods and it’s good to keep up with the work they do. They are also good with figuring out great complimenting flavor combinations. You want the foods you cook to be both healthy and tasty.”

“That makes sense,” said Olga. “What’s the third word of cooking?”

“The third word is ‘manual’,” replied Bo. “It’s important to do all the work from scratch, and not take any shortcuts. Want to serve a pasta dish? Don’t buy a boxed pasta from the store; make it yourself! Need a crust for a quiche? Make it from scratch! The people who eat your food will taste the world of difference you get when you take the time to make all your dishes from scratch.”

“Wow,” said Olga. “Those three words are really great advice! Let’s cook something together. What do you suggest?”

“I have a great idea!” said Bo. “How about a taco? It is a great way to use the Three Words of Cooking. Let’s get started!”

Together, Bo and Olga worked on the dish. They applied the Three Words of Cooking to what they were doing, and in no time at all, their taco was complete.

Bo and Olga with their finished product

“This is great!” said Olga. “The Three Words of Cooking really helped me improve! Thank you, Bo, for taking the time to teach me what you learned!”

“You are very welcome,” said Bo. “They really do help in improving your cooking skills, and they will also help you solve my Geo Boo Gang series puzzle!”
