This cache is a letterbox hybrid cache and is located just off a trail named "Pork Chop". This trail is a "blue" run and is rated for intermediate riders. It is a loop, but some sections are one way only. The trail is not too difficult to ride, but has some challenging sections and some sections have "A" and "B" lines, with the "A" line being more difficult to negotiate.
GZ is only 3.78km which is an easy 30 minute ride from the new car park. There are trail maps throughout the park.
If you choose to walk to GZ please listen for riders and give way to them.
A letterbox hybrid cache pays homage to a much older form of scavenger hunting know as letterboxing. Letterboxing can be traced back to Dartmoor in 1854.
Like geocaching "letterboxes" can be hidden in several ways. One format uses clues to help the hunter locate the hide. To find this letterbox you will have to visit the posted co-ordinates, but to be able to open the box and log your find you will have to follow the clues.
To get to GZ follow the trail from the parking co-ordinates. The easiest way to the correct trail would be to follow the shoreline trail around to the next trail map. Pork Chop runs off the Secret Valley loop to the east of this trail map. The shortest route to GZ would be to go anti-clockwise around Pork Chop.
When you arrive at GZ you should be able to easily locate the letterbox in the rocky outcrop which is at the posted co-ordinates. Now you just need to find the key. Follow the animal track that leads North West from the letterbox. It goes up a small rise not too far away. As you crest that rise you should see another rocky outcrop to your right. It has a small SPOR on it. At the base of that rock there is another SPOR. You will find the key there. You should now be 24m NW of GZ.
Head back to GZ and add your name to the log. There are a couple of stamps in the box for you to use. These are not swaps so please leave them for others.
Don't forget to replace the key in its hiding spot before you leave.
