The Waterview Connection Project had closed Waterview Park, but with the project long complete and the tunnel now open, the park is now open too and is busy with muggles enjoying all that it can offer (water-play areas, slides, swings, BMX track, learn to cycle track, basketball court, toilets, skate park and BBQ).
If you are wanting to walk 10,000 steps, you can start at this cache, and walk along the Howlett-Waterview Esplanade Walkway, to Great North Road, across the road is an entrance to the Oakley Creek walkway (Another entrance is opposite 1515 Great North Road). Follow this path and it will take you past the Oakley Creek Waterfall (Te Auaunga: whirlpool or swirling waters). Or you can turn left and walk along the Northwestern Path which is a shared walk/cycle way along the Northwestern motorway.
