Leptoceratops: Hello!
I'm archiving your cache as it has been disabled for more than a one month and it is lost, completely damaged or inappropriate. Caches should be visited and maintained within 30 days after disabling.
Archiving a geocache is meant to be a permanent action. If a cache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance, it will not be unarchived.

If there are still leftovers from container I would appreciate if other players could collect them so that there is no trash in the nature.

Happy geocaching!

Geocache Description:

This is a series of caches around the Icelandic village of Bíldudalur. The village is nested by the fjord Arnarfjörður, a location which is not only beautiful but also responsible for Bíldudalur's reputation as the "good-weather-capital of the Westfjords".   The population of Bíldudalur is only about 200.

As you reach this spot you will be able to see Bildudalur laid out infront of you.

There is parking at the cache and take your time to check out the information boards.

The main industries in this picturesque village are sea mineral processing and fish farming, while tourism has also been increasing.

We worked here for 2 months in the summer of 2015 and met and joined in with the villagers and village life.  Whilst there it was unfortunate that one of our hosts, Magnus Kristján Björnsson died as a result of an accident out to sea whilst working on his fishing vessel.  To return the warmth we felt from his partner Asa Dora and the village we decided to place this geocache trail in memory.

Bíldudalur is a community on the outer edge of Bíldudalsvogur cove, along the western side of Arnarfjörður fjord. It is an old trading post that was greatly influenced by several entrepreneurs, for example, Ólafur Thorlacius (1761- 1815) and Pétur J. Thorsteinsson (1854-1929). Many houses from Pétur´s time still exist. Population 200

The latest trade of the village was launched in 2003 after initial research from 2001:
The seaweed-derived mineral source,Hafkalk is rich in calcium, magnesium and 70 other trace minerals including zinc, iron and selenium. It is produced from the red algae, Lithothamnion Tophiforme. During the life span, these algae absorb essential minerals from the sea. This gives Hafkalk its unique multimineral content. The algae then break down naturally and settle on the sea bed. These calcified skeletal remains are harvested, washed, dried and milled into this unique multimineral supplement. Nothing is added and clear vegetarian capsules are used.
Hafkalk offers a range of minerals from a single natural source. This makes it highly bioavailable and the human body easily absorbs the nutrients. These minerals work together and the overall health benefits are enhanced.
Hafkalk also uses these raw materials for the production of fodder supplements for the farming, and fertilizer.
