The ghost of Mary Stockum is known to haunt the area. After her husband had killed their daughter and was hanged for it, she vowed revenge. One by one her nine remaining children began to die. When the fifth one died, Mary was burned as a witch. After a sixth died, her body was dug up and her head was chopped off. The children stopped dying after that. The cemetery is haunted by Mary as she searches for her head and her children. Many hunters in the area have reported seeing her ghost there regularly.
