This property was more recently known as the Nassau County Office Complex, located between the split of Old Country Road and Round Swamp Road, was once home to the Nassau County Sanitarium, a tuberculosis ward. Built on the Taliaferro Estate, the sanitarium was authorized by the Nassau County Board of Supervisors in 1930, and was completed in the early part of the same decade. As tuberculosis was brought under control, the complex of Georgian style buildings was closed in the 1960's and recently demolished to make way for condos. Following its closure, the facility housed a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, a building to house jurors and a soccer league with some fields.
Directions: Get on Old Country road (between the LIE and Manetto Hill Road) and find the bike crossing and bus stop. Now turn south on the nameless entry road that leads south into the complex. There are parking spots on the north side of the soccer headquarter building. Nassau Police made it quite clear to me that they don't want night caching on this property, so I would abide!
