Geocache Description:

Easy walk from parking lot to new rock outcropping sitting area. Great place for a picnic, tables included!

Take a break at Leopold Point while exploring the Independence Grove Forest Preserve.

Leopold Point was named after Aldo Leopold. The studies and writings of Aldo Leopold have influenced so many Landscape Architects including many at the Lake County Forest Preserve District. When the Master Plan was initially prepared for Independence Grove, they were looking for a quiet solitary location for people to observe the sounds and beauty of the nature. They chose that point because it was somewhat removed from the busier recreational areas of the Preserve. The seating area and the plantings in and around Leopold Point were created using all native materials. The area was named after Aldo because their vision for that feature was consistent with his philosophy in so many ways.

The cache is a small PVC pipe capsule.
