St Michael at Hunston has become one of our favourite places to visit over recent weeks.
A beautiful church in a wonderful setting, it really deserves to have more people aware of its existence.
Don't forget to collect the bonus number here!
Like the neighbouring church at Langham, I had no idea this one existed until I started to look at placing CM caches in the Badwell & Walsham Benefice.
St Michael can be reached by footpath from several directions, or by car from the road leading out of the village to the South. I can thoroughly recommend a walk along the footpaths, great views of the countryside and the chance to meet the horses that live alongside the Church. Vehicle access does take you through a working farm yard so please be aware of this if arriving by car. You will find that the footpath sign is missing/broken at the end of the farm track you can drive up so an OS map might prove useful (particularly if you plan on carrying on to Sebastian's Cache and Elcaro's Treasure from here as the footpaths are somewhat of a maze!)
I found much peace and tranquillity here, despite the working farm there is such an overwhelming sense of calm when exploring the churchyard here.
Alongside the Church sits a large pond and stream leading to it. Splashing about in wellies when retrieving this one could be great fun! (You won't have to get wet feet but geokids and dogs won't be able to resist!)
