On Hawthorn Pond
Welcome to the Hawthorne Pond Natural area.
This 40 -acre park is located south of Adams Street at 9876 Black River Court. It offers walking trails around the 5-acre Hawthorn Pond with a kayak launch ramp, fishing deck, boardwalk and lookout stations at various locations around the pond as well as on the Macatawa River. Hawthorn Pond Natural Area developed in 2011 is jointly owned by Holland Charter Township and Ottawa County.
In 2015 a $50,000 grant from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund assisted in funding a $85,000 improvement project that included additional parking spaces, a picnic shelter, picnic tables and native trees.
This multi is not a typical multi where you just go from stage to stage. I enjoy a good walk through the natural areas, challenging, but not extreme hides. Most of all I enjoy having to think a little while caching. Hopefully this multi will provide all of these things for you. Pay attention to the attributes or you may leave without a smiley.
Hmmm, the container size says other. Yes it does, it could be a nano (but it's not) or it could be a large. Not knowing what you are looking for just adds a little bit more to the challenge and it makes it harder to dirty cache. The same goes for the number of stages. The total is somewhere between one and ten, you'll know when you are at the final.
If you or your family enjoy fishing, bring a pole. Hawthorn Pond is well stocked with Herring.
