Dog and Butterfly Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This 5th cache in our Song Series is placed above Brown Creek Campground in an area my family has referred to as the "The Big Timber" for generations. "The Big Timber" is an area where my family has camped and hunted for years.
From US HWY 101 turn west onto the Skokomish Valley Road (6 miles north of Shelton and 7 miles south of Hoodsport). Drive west on the Skokomish Valley Road from the George Adams Fish Hatchery for about 5 miles to FS Road #23. Turn right onto FS Road #23 and drive 9 miles to FS Road #2353. Veer right onto FS Road #2353 and drive approximately 3/4 mile to the South Fork Skokomish River Bridge. Cross the bridge and turn right, leading you to Brown Creek Campground. Proceed through Brown Creek Campground to the next bridge located at the end of the campground. From this bridge continue for 3 miles. On the left, there is a pull off big enough for a full size pickup. The GPS should lead you to this area. The GPS/signal may be poor due to the cache being in "The Big Timber". Alternate directions to the cache are included in the hint, if you are unable to locate GZ from the coordinates given. The cache is located over the dirt hump. The cache container is unusual and measures approximately a foot square. Please replace and conceal cache as found, as cache could be easily "spotted". There are different ways to get to and from the "The Big Timber" but, if you are unfamiliar with this area, please return the way you came. There is a prize for FTF located with the logbook. CONGRATS to Bluecanoe for FTF! WOOT WOOT!
