Geocache Description:

This hopefully simple puzzle cache will provide you with some interesting history of Freetown which will lead you to a short walk in Profile Rock State Park. The posted coordinates are for parking with additional information located in the waypoint section. 


Freetown was first settled by the English on April 2, 1659 on the banks of the Assonet River when the areas of Assonet and Fall River were purchased for an assortment of odd items. The quantity of the items sold in the purchase, which are listed below, will get you the coordinates you need for the cache.

  • C rugs
  • 2 iron pots
  • B kettles
  • 1 little kettle
  • F pairs of shoes
  • A pairs of stockings
  • 12 hoes
  • E hatchets
  • 2 yards of broadcloth from the Wampanoag Indians
