Geocache Description:

Take an easy walk to McFarlanes Creek Park to find this geocache. An out of the way and pretty park in Tumut.

The park is used by locals as a shortcut on the way to the main street of Tumut. There's plenty of grassy space, picnic tables, and a few benches to sit on so you can enjoy the sounds of the creek's running water. Say hello to the park's resident ducks while you're there. There's two entrances to the park: Simpson Street and Cappa Street. Accessible 24/7, but not advisable at night due to a lack of light.

Part 1 of the Orion Constellation Cache Series.
All based in the Riverina area.

Orion, our team's namesake, is one of the easiest to spot constellations in the summer sky. On a clear night, keep an eye out for Orion's Belt: three small stars in a row and two larger stars, Rigel and Betelgeuse, at their diagonals. The Orion Constellation will help you explore the sky, and we hope that the caches we placed in this series will help you explore some of our favourite locations in the Riverina area.

Alnilam is at the very centre of Orion in the middle of the belt, just as Tumut is the centre of our cache series. The star is the 5th brightest in the constellation (out of 7 major stars), 1,359 light years away from Earth and 26 times bigger than our Sun! The word Alnilam is Arabic in origin and means 'string of pearls.'
