Geocache Description:

The Lord of the Rings was filmed in New Zealand and Sir Peter Jackson took advantage of the spectacular and beautiful forest and river scenery at Kaitoke Reserve to create movie scenes. After leaving Rivendell the newly formed Fellowship of the Ring headed south and then started to climb the Misty Mountains. In this company was the dwarf Gimli, son of Gloin.

Bring your own pen.

Gimli's father Gloin was in the group of dwarves that Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins accompanied on their quest to reach the Lonely Mountain in the book "The Hobbit". Gimli first shows up at the Council of Elrond and joins the fellowship of the ring on their quest to destroy the one ring. With his axe-wielding skills and his fearless nature, he is small in stature but big in heart. He strikes a friendship with Legolas the elf, that will extend beyond the adventures told in the Lord of the Rings. Gimli plays an important role in accompanying Aragorn and Legolas as they searched for the two younger hobbits after the battles at Amon Hen and is a stalwart defender at the Battle of Helms Deep. There he first sees one of the wonders of Middle Earth - the glittering caves. After the war of the ring is over, he returns with other dwarves to create a new dwarf city at the glittering caves and becomes the Lord of the Glittering Caves.

The cache is also situated in a small cave. Left side of road looking uphill but not far into the bush. When you find it remember to take note of the number code, as you will need it for the next multi-cache in this series.
