Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Hoppers/Birge Pond nature preserve.  There are many interconnecting trails in these woods, some are marked, some aren't.  We found the easiest way is to follow the white trail, but there are other ways to approach the cache too.

Hoppers/Birge Pond is a 200 acre nature preserve in Bristol.  There is a lot of history connected to this area.  "Hoppers" refers to kettle holes that were formed in the ice age 12,000 years ago.  When the ice melted huge holes were formed, called "hoppers".  In the Colonial times these trials were colonial roads and Indian trails.  Some folklore of this area tells of Cheif Cochipianee who was said to travel through the Hoppers with bushels of apples to bring to a Farmington Cider Mill.  Steven Graves, a Tory, hid here to escape capture from the Sons of Liberty.

Now the Hoppers is an open space with hiking and walking trails and is also a great place for dogs to run the open fields.

You are looking for a small camo'd container.  No need to take the container off it's hanging spot, unscrew the top and take out the log.  Bring a pen.

Will be very hard to find with snow on the ground.
