Geocache Description:

The 3 Crosses symbolize Christ on the Cross flanked by the two thieves that were crucified with Him. The center cross is a gold color which represents royalty. The crosses on each side are pale blue which represents the common man.

CROSS FACTS * There are 1,842 sets of Crosses in 29 states and two foreign countries - The Philippines and Zambia. * The originals are of Douglas fir and weigh 400 pounds each. * The new ones are lighter and of a plastic-like material making them repair free. They can withstand 200 mph winds. I adopted the Bentonia site about 10 years ago and keep the area clean and paint the crosses every 3 years. These crosses are all over the United States and many are neglected and need maintenance. I cleaned a site about 20 years ago that had grown up so bad you couldn't even see the crosses. Since I've retired I have more time to go around the State and maintain neglected sites.
