Quick walk down river from the Whangarei Falls
The Whangarei Falls are a beautiful local spot. The loop track over the river and down to the bottom of the falls is reasonably easy and suitable for the whole family. The path down either side zigzags gently down to the base of the falls. The area has been popular with families for generations and has recently undergone a remodel of the entrance and viewing platforms. Follow the Hatea River walkway that leads down to the A.H. Reed Memorial Kauri Park. The walk is an easy one. From the base of the falls it is only a few minutes walk away. The area can be busy at times so you might want to sit on the nearby rocks and watch the river flow by. The cache is a small black container with containing a pencil and logbook as well as swaps with a little room for trackables.
