EN: I am spending my summers in Korčula since the year I was born, but I have never passed through these stairs. I’ve known about their presence, because they exit right to the café I frequently visit, but the existence of the door (that can be closed and locked) from that side made me think they are private stairs leading to somebody’s house.
Recently I passed from the upper side of the stairs (huge stairs that lead to the cemetery), and discovered that this side is open to the public, and the stairs turn out to be a reminder to the old times – how Korčula looked like some hundred years ago. Too bad the house on the south-west side is devastated and full of trash.
Also, there is an ancient well (without the cover, but blocked with a couple of big stones), they sure don’t make them like that any more.

HR: Provodim ljeta na Korčuli od kad sam se rodio, no mislim da nikad nisam prošao ovim stepeništem. Znao sam da postoji, jer izlazi točno na kafić u kojem sam često bio gost, ali zbog činjenice da s donje strane postoje vrata (koja se mogu zatvoriti, i zaključati) sam nekako uvijek mislio da su stepenice privatne, te da vode do nečije kuće.
Skoro sam prolazio s gornje strane stepeništa (široke stepenice koje vode prema groblju), i otkrio da su s te strane otvorene, te da izgledaju kao podsjetnik na neka stara vremena – kako je Korčula izgledala prije kojih stotinu godina. Šteta samo da je kuća na jugozapadnom dijelu stepenica totalno devastirana i puna smeća.
Ovdje postoji i jedan stari bunar (bez poklopca, ali pokriven s par velikih kamenja), šteta što ih više ne rade ovakve.
