This is the Southern Tier's newest dog park. It's a REALLY nice dog park.....the Taj Mahal of dog parks! It's a fun, fun, FUN tail-waggin' doggie paradise right here in Hickories Park in Owego. It has THREE fenced areas. One for the large WOOFERS and one for the little YAPPERS! PLUS--It has an area with agility equipment for the furry athletes! It has water and lots of shady trees and pathways and benches....and a geocache too!

This is a pretty simple two stage multicache. Part one is located at the main entrance to Hickories Park, and the final is VERY near where dogs (and their owners) will be playing......but it is NOT INSIDE the fenced area.
Rebecca Weitsman was a well known Owego "dog person" who showed her dogs in AKC conformation shows and loved her dogs, and was an active member of the "dog community". This memorial dog park in her name opened just prior to Labor Day 2015 (Friday September 4th, 2015 to be precise), and a lot of time, and money and love went into it's creation. So, when searching at the final location PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE........remember to be respectful of the surroundings! This is not meant to be a difficult hide, and is a very geo-obvious placement. If you have a dog with you, make sure that they are ON LEASH while outside of the fenced area (a BIG rule here) and to clean-up after them! Also, this is hidden well within eyesight of LOADS of muggles (the four legged variety are fine....it's the TWO LEGGERS I worry about).......please try to be stealthy, and for the continued enjoyment of all, conceal the final container well! In fact, that is the reason for the slightly elevated difficulty rating.....this is probably really only a 1.5 if not for the extreme stealth needed here for an unobserved retrieval, at least MOST of the time.
IMPORTANT: The dog owners group is aware that this cache is here and has given their blessing as long as seekers DO NOT harass the dogs in the fenced area while searching! I do not recommend visiting here after dark, and if the Susquehanna River is in flood, the access road to Hickories Park is underwater and so the final of this cache would then not be accessible.
