"Nokiidaa" is an Ojibwa term meaning "walking Together". The Nokiidaa Trail links three communities (Aurora, Newmarket and East Gwillimbury), following the East Holland River. The trail passes through town parks and green spaces, past wetlands and historic cultural sites, and has links to numerous other town trails.
Just past the East Gwillimbury trailhead of the Nokiidaa trail is a new stormwater pond. Keep an eye out for the wildlife around while you search for this cache. Listen for Spring Peepers, watch for the Great Blue Herons, Turtles, Redwinged black birds, Beavers, Toad Tadpoles, Dragonflies and the occasional Woodpecker. Beware of the Weekend Fisher as you may get muggled.
In the fall of 2016, a beaver moved into the neighbourhood and built its lodge right beside the old cache location. The shrubs camouflaging the area cache are now part of the lodge, or possibly became dinner! Unfortunately, the container disappeared over the winter. To prevent a repeat, the new container has been moved slightly to a more well hidden location.
Congratulations to Weyvalley for being the FTF!
