This cache is located at Cedar Lakes State Recreation Area. There
are two additional larger lakes located in the large hollow in the
back of the park that most people never know are there. The parking
area can be found here:
N38° 47.7408 W81° 40.8504'.
From here, head up the dam for the first lake. Here there are
usually many ducks and geese, and currently many young birds. (we
have two bird dogs that usually travel along with us, so you can
imagine the havoc when they pop over the hill and see about 20-30
birds in the lake!!)
Either way you go around the lakes will get you to the cache
location. This trail makes about a 1 mile loop around both lakes.
The footpath is fairly level (one set of wooden steps on one side
of the lake) and easy to follow.
There are many little scenic hollows and some rock outcroppings,
but mainly it's a nice easy walk in a park that offers tennis
courts, baseball fields, putt putt golf, fishing, and many places
to take a lunch.
If you come during July 4th week, this is the location for one
of the largest Arts & Crafts Fairs in the state. It's
unbelievable the number of amazing craftspeople and artisains we
have in the state, and this fair showcases about the best you will
find anywhere. If you show up the week of the fair, bring extra
$$$, I know you'll find something you want.
