The last year or two geocaching has taken a backseat to other priorities in life but we still get to an event or go caching with a group every now and then . It's been a while since I have actually hidden a new cache; I've actually been whittling my list of "subpar" owned caches down as maintenance issues plaque them since I have little desire to keep some of them up.
When I saw that they were promoting another "Mafia Hide Day" this year I decided it was a worthy opportunity to fire up the GPS and offer a new geocache as a way of saying thanks to the many great experiences this group has brought me.
During our tenure in the sport of geocaching we have created bonds with numerous geocachers and the group from the Starkville, MS that has become known throughout the Mid-South as The Starkville Mafia has always set the bar for everything from creative caches and comradery to boosting the overall geocaching morale of all cachers that they interact with.
If you ever get the chance to visit Starkville, take the time to hunt a few caches or better yet plan to attend one of they're many social geocaching events.
