GIFF Weekend 2015 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

hikecycletri: Not everyone has logged their smiley, yet, it is time to archive the event, so it doesn't show on the map when people are looking for upcoming events. Thank you all for attending and making donations to various groups in need.

Geocache Description:

It's Movie Night!!

Here is your chance to watch the entire reel of the 16 finalist films from the 2015 Geocaching International Film Festival.

What is GIFF Weekend?
GIFF Weekend is the rain date for the Geocaching International Film Festival that was cancelled because of the thunderstorms in Seattle on August 14th. On the weekend of November 5-8 only, these family-friendly films will be shown publicly for the first time at GIFF events around the world.

The plan for the evening:

6:30 - Doors open

7:00 - Films begin - the reel is approximately 60 minutes long

8:15 - Votes collected for Best Picture

8:30 - Announcement of Best Picture & Door Prize drawing

9:00 - Event ends

The event will take place at St Luke's Lutheran Church, 1010 Kinderhook St, Valatie, NY. The Film screening will be upstairs, with plenty of seating, projected on a large screen. Beverages and desserts will be served in the downstairs fellowship hall. There is a standard elevator in the building and restrooms on both floors.

Coordinates are for the South side entry door into the fellowship hall. You may also use the main doors on the West side directly into the upstairs.

As the holiday season approaches, the church is a collection point for many worthwhile organizations in the community. Please consider helping to offset the use of the facility by "paying it forward" with an optional donation. There are collection boxes for the following inexpensive, and very much appreciated, items:

  • The Mitten Tree - hats, scarfs, mittens are distributed to local elementary school nurses to hand out when children lose or are otherwise without these items
  • St Paul's Center - personal care items (toothpaste, shampoo, soaps, etc) for the Women's shelter
  • Food Pantry & Marion Stegmann Fund - non-perishable food items for holiday meals
