'For Scooter' is a cache that I decided to place in memory of my dog that passed away. He was a pure bred Shih Tzu.
Scooter was a dog found on trademe when I was 8 years old and purchased for only $150. Upon collecting him, he was in a bad shape and he desperately needed to be rescued due to not being clean, smelly and ungroomed. The owner said she brought him off someone but couldn't look after him anymore. We were glad to get him out of that place when we saw how bad of a state he was in. My mother put him in the car and we drove away with him wagging his tail in the backseat of the car - we always think this is the moment when he knows he is going to a better place.
It was obvious Scooter had been abused due to him not liking to be picked up and growling often. However, he loved playing fetch and once we showed him proper affection, he grew to love us. He loved food and we enjoyed spoiling him.
Unfortunately, Scooter pasted away on the 29th of October 2013 from a heart attack. We buried him in a blanket that he loved, a tennis ball he loved to play with and a letter telling him how much we love him.
My family misses him greatly and one way to commemorate him was to place a cache in the park where we would walk him daily.
The cache is a small container that when placed, only contained the logbook. Please BYOP and use stealth as this park is popular.
