The cache
The cache is a small pill bottle containing the log and pencil, and should be easily spotted. It is hidden about 15 meters off the Cannon Point loop track in a pleasant clearing in the pines. The Swinging Bandana is the sister cache of The Red Bandana cache on Mt Cecil and The Pink Bandana cache on Pinehaven Ridge.
Locating the clearing
Walking down from the trig enter the first group of mature pines. At the first large tree on your right, leave the track and contour through the trees to an obvious clearing, this is GZ.
Note: GPS may be dodgy under the large overhead Pinus Radiata, especially if it's been raining.

I have been around the Cannon Point loop many times and always enjoy passing through this group of pines. I grew up in a plantation next to my father's sawmill and still feel at home among the familiar scents with soft needles under foot.
Before I dropped off this geocache I had been hunting the caches on the ridge below, and was approaching the final slope to the trig when I slowed to savour the pines. A vague trail through the undergrowth took my attention and I left the main path to investigate. I was pleasantly surprised to find a wide, secluded clearing in which to sit for a few minutes and listen to the wind. A group of chattering parakeets kept me company before flying into the nearby eucalyptus grove above Three Skulls Road.
It was a windy day following a storm and the trees were full of movement.
"A pleasant spot for a cache", thinks me. So searching my backpack I found a few bits and pieces to cobble together The Swinging Bandana. I hope you enjoy, and that the cachename lasts for a while at least.
