As the name suggests to the arithmetically endowed, the Triangle is a steel rod shaped into 3 sides. It is struck with a metal mallet called a Wand whilst being held in the alternate hand. The holding hand is able to adjust the resonant sound by dampening or partially dampening the vibrations. An orchestral Triangle has three different gauges of steel rod, matching each of the sides. Two of the sides are not joined together with a corner.
The reason the third corner is missing is to allow the formation of sound to escape the reverberation from the opposite two sides. Triangles are fixed and although slight harmonics may be induced, the key the instrument was made for cannot be altered.

Cache: Thigh high. Please be aware that this is in the busiest commercial port in Africa. The access roads are often jammed with container trucks – please be cautious.
