[ITA] CASA MUSEO DEL PARTIGIANO
Sulla strada proveniente da Gravellona Toce, la Casa Museo del Partigiano si trova subito all’inizio del paese. Il museo è stato inaugurato il 4 settembre 1988 con il nome “Casa Museo Raggruppamento Divisione Patrioti Alfredo Di Dio”, per volontà di alcuni ex ‘partigiani azzurri’, così chiamati per il fazzoletto di questo colore che portavano al collo durante la Resistenza.
Ornavasso venne scelta come sede museale perché il paese fu culla della Divisione Valtoce e la casa fu danneggiata da un colpo di mortaio dei nazifascisti. Nel “Museo della Resistenza” vengono infatti conservati documenti, manoscritti, fotografie e reperti che testimoniano la vita di questa Divisione.
Essa venne costituita nella primavera del 1944 quando in seguito ad un rastrellamento, le forze partigiane dell’Ossola si erano ritrovate disorganizzate. Un gruppo di giovani ornavassesi decise così di accettare la proposta di Alfredo Di Dio di dare vita ad una formazione aperta a tutti e connotata da caratteristiche militari, che si prefiggeva come scopo primario la liberazione dell’Italia dal fascismo e dai tedeschi, partendo dall’occupazione dell’intera vallata tra la Svizzera e Ornavasso.
Il contributo che la Valtoce diede alla liberazione e difesa del territorio fu notevole e l’esperienza dei quaranta giorni di libertà della Repubblica dell’Ossola rimane sicuramente uno tra i suoi più grandi successi. Dopo la caduta di Alfredo Di Dio in un’imboscata nemica e i violenti attacchi nazifascisti, la Valtoce si unì ad altre divisioni creando il “Raggruppamento Divisioni Patrioti Alfredo Di Dio”.
Il 24 e il 25 aprile 1945, infine, la divisione partecipò alla liberazione nazionale, prima di ottenere nell’ottobre la resa delle SS a Milano e sfilare trionfante assieme a tutte le forze dell’Ossola.

[ENG] HOUSE MUSEUM OF THE PARTISAN
On the road coming from Gravellona Toce, the House Museum of the Partisan is located right at the beginning of the town. The museum was inaugurated on 4th September 1988 with the name “House Museum Group Divison Patriots Alfredo Di Dio” by the will of some former ‘blue partisans’, so called for the handkerchief of this colour that they wore around their necks during the Resistance.
Ornavasso was chosen as the location for the museum, because the town had been the cradle of the Valtoce Division and the house had been damaged by a mortar shell blown by the Nazi-Fascists. Inside the “Museum of the Resistance”, documents, manuscripts, photographs and artifacts that bear witness to the life of this Division are safely treasured.
This Division was first formed in the spring of 1944, when after a combing operation, the partisan forces located in Ossola found themselves in disarray. A group of young men from Ornavasso then decided to accept the proposal made by Alfredo Di Dio to set up a formation open to everyone and characterised by military traits. Its primary goal was to free Italy from Fascism and the Germans, starting with the occupation of the entire valley between Switzerland and Ornavasso.
The contribution that Valtoce made to the liberation and the defence of this territory was remarkable and the experience of the forty days of freedom of the Republic of Ossola surely remains one of its greatest successes. After the death of Alfredo Di Dio in an enemy ambush and the violent attacks of the Nazi-Fascists, the Division joined other units giving birth to the “Group Divisions Patriots Alfredo Di Dio”.
Finally, on 24th and 25th April 1945, the Division took part in the national liberation, before getting the surrender of the SS in Milan and parading triumphantly together with all the other forces of Ossola.
