Geocache Description:

Another in my series of Classic sit-com caches.

Dad's army 1 disappeared after a week. Dad's army 2 got lost severaltimes and then got tarmac'd over, and then I replaced it with Citizen Smith 2 which ended up on the wrong side of the fence and then disappeared too! Better luck with this one.

Dad's Army is a BBC television sitcom about the Home Guard during the Second World War. It was written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft and broadcast on BBC television from 1968 to 1977. The sitcom ran for 9 series and 80 episodes in total, plus a radio version based on the television scripts, a feature film and a stage show. The series regularly gained audiences of 18 million viewers and is still repeated worldwide. The Home Guard consisted of local volunteers otherwise ineligible for military service, either owing to age or by being in professions that were exempt from conscription (Dad's Army deals almost exclusively with the former), and as such the series mainly featured older British actors, including Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier,Arnold Ridley and John Laurie. Among relative youngsters in the regular cast were Ian Lavender, Clive Dunn (who played the elderly Jones), Frank Williams, James Beck(who died suddenly during production of the programme's sixth series in 1973) and Bill Pertwee. Please use one of the catch phrases from the show when logging this cache, just for the fun of it.

The cache is a 35mm film canister but is hidden out of sight. No pen in the cache so please bring your own writing implement. This is a very busy road, and you will be in full sight of the passing cars and pedestrians when searching for and retrieving the cache. For this reason this cache is not recommended for young children, Please do not attempt this cache at school arrival and departure times as this is school muggle central. Free parking can be found in the adjacent Park and Ride Tram stop (1400 spaces apparently) Please handle the cache with care and replace it exactly as found. Congrats to TeresaA for the FTF, about 20 minutes after publication! Flag Counter
