Geocache Description:

The Wizard of Earthsea, by Ursula K. LeGuin, is a classic of fantasy literature. You don’t have to read the book to solve this cache, but we hope to pique your interest in it. The entire round-trip of this journey is about two miles along city sidewalks. There is also parking near each of the stages. There are bound to be many muggles around so be discreet. One of the stages is on school property so avoid visiting this cache during school hours, 7:30-3:00.

Ged, the wizard in this book has his first real job after wizard school on an island where he is to protect the citizens from a dragon. At the first leg of this Geocache, you will need to find a dragon. Look on the sign for information about it. There is parking near this coordinate.

Here are your first coordinates to look for the dragon:

N 43’ 01.101”

W 088’ 13.439”

Look on the sign for information about Dexter the Dragon. How old do you have to be to ride on Dexter?

Use this information in the missing coordinates for the next leg of the cache.

N 43’ 00.7XX

W 088’ 13.847

For second leg of this journey you are looking for a store that the wizard Ged might use. What is the street address of this establishment? Use the first digit of this address to find the final coordinates.

N 43” 00.434 W 088” 14.002 These coordinates will take you to a place where another wizard, the Wizard of Waukesha, attended school. For the security of the school, please visit this cache outside of school hours (7:30 am -3:00 pm) [Permission to place this cache was granted by Rob Bennett, Principal.] When you get to these coordinates, you should search for a small camouflaged container that will hold some treasures related to the book. If you can leave a related treasure, that would be great. If not, that is OK, too. You might also want to walk across the street and get a copy of this classic story. It is appropriate for any age, though younger readers might need a parent to read it to them.
