*gln: ARCHIVING ABANDONED CACHE

Greetings Odd_Intentions,

Looks like our timing is off and It’s time to say goodbye to this cache.

Since I haven't any maintenance here in a very long time, I am going to assume that your priorities have changed and you’ve gone in a different direction.

Archiving due to lack of maintenance is permanent.
CACHE ARCHIVAL IS PERMANENT.

Let me know if I can be of assistance in the future.

Thanks a MILLION for all you have done, Glenn

Geocache Description:

This cache, just like all others in the series, will require you to crack some kind of code in order to get to the final cache location. From there all you need to do is do a little searching and you'll be earning another smiley! Have fun cracking this code and happy huntng!

(Congrats to N0WNV on FTF!)

In order to get the coordinates you'll have to solve what is sometimes reffered to as the Rainstorm code. Because this is a difficult thing to learn by research I'll explain just enough to help you solve this cache. Before explaing any steps however I must give you a long series of numbers for you to work with.

X21434420089936X

Great, these will be the numbers you begin with if you want to crack this code. The Xs will not be used in the coordinates once solved but need to remain in this code to mark the beggining and end of the final number sequence. If your final number does not begin and end with an X than you have done something wrong. If you were hoping for an easily earned smiley or you're already confused you might want to leave now or look at teh example at the bottom of the page because here comes the confusing part. Let's begin.

Now that you have your number sequence you will want to draw a large box. Inside of that box you will want 16 smaller boxes, one for each digit in the code. Obviously each small square should be the same size adding up to a four by four box. This code (just like all other up, down, and around codes) will begin in the bottem right square.

The first digit will obviously be X and will go in the furthest right and the very bottom square. The second will be a number digit and will go the furthest right collumn but will be one box higher than the last. From here you will work diagonally towards the left and down. You will continue this until you reach the bottom or left side of the box. Continue doing this until all 16 squares are filled. Once this is done it is simple. Just read the numbers from left to right and from the top row to the bottom and write out this newly ordered number sequence. Then put these numbers into the template below that I have made and do so in order.

N _ _  _ _._ _ _' W _ _  _ _._ _ _

If all of this is done correctly then the above template should be filled out in no time and you'll have earned another smiley. Have fun cracking this code and happy hunting!

Remeber! The number sequence will start and begin with an X but these should not be put into the template!

Example:

Just in case you were struggling or simply dont know what to do, I put together an example that I hope will help you comprehend this code. Lets say your scrambled code sequence is this: XYERMSNRTUUWOAOMOAMWHLYDOOLTTTIEAWEI . Obviously this code is longer and therefor requires a larger 6 by 6 box but dont let this fool you, it is entered the same way. It'll just take a little longer. If you enter this code in acoording to the RainStorm code system then you should get the message "I WILL MEET YOU AT DAWN TOMORROW AT MY HOUSE X." Which would be the final cracked code. The one you have to solve works exactly the same way, just with numbers! You dont have to solve this example part i just wanted to offer it if you were needing some practice.

Also a big thanks to management for letting me hide this cache!

Happy code cracking and happy hunting!
