Desert Punchbowl Traditional Cache

This cache is located just a few miles away from the town of JOSHUA TREE, CA. The dirt roads to the cache require a high clearace 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle. The easiest route is thru the county park SECTION 6. The cache is not on this desert park land, it's on private land. With the right kind of vehicle you can drive to within 50 feet of the cache.
From downtown JOSHUA TREE head south on PARK/QUAIL SPRINGS ROAD TO ONAGA TRAIL. Head NE on this dirt road to the yellow gates. Read the park rules and note the closing time and locked gate at sunset info. Onward to approximatly N 34.06 753, W116.17 804.From there head SE to the cache. The cache is a military ammo can with a GEOCACHING.COM sticker. It's under a large bolder.Always be on the lookout for snakes. Alternate route to cache is to park on Park Blvd at N34.06.389 W116.18.305 and head due East across desert and scramble up some bolders.
