*** Remembering Richard Parquette ***
The American flags flew half-staff today (9/11/15) in remembrance of the 9/11 attack in New York City 14 years ago.
While caching in a small rural town in Northern Wisconsin, I came to the Cable Town Hall to ask permission to hide a cache. Here at the Town Hall, our flag was also at half-staff at a memorial to a fallen police officer, Richard Parquette, who lost his life while on duty, September 10, 1996. This just struck me emotionally when my discovery of his memorial was on the same day as remembering 9/11.
In any small town, everyone knows your name. Everyone knew Richard Parquette. His sacrifice to protect this rural community of Cable, WI was just as significant as those who lost their lives in the call of duty at the Twin Towers.
The cache is hidden on the property of the Cable Town Hall, at Cable, Wisconsin. This cache is placed at the memorial site for Police Officer Parquette, only about 60 feet from the Town Hall. Please honor and respect this site. Remembering Richard Parquette.
