Geocache Description:

This cache is in remembrance of my special puppy Jasper.
born 2nd May 1996, died 28th May 2009

Replaces the original All about Jasper geocache, sadly lost in the new building works.

Please note this cache is on the side of a sometimes busy road, please take special care of little ones two and four footed.

Jasper was our baby - our furchild. For 13 wonderful years that he was a part of our life we enjoyed the best relationship. Cuddles when we were sad or sick, quiet times when we were tired, playtime when we need cheering up. Lots of walks. Lots and lots of walks.

It was near here (now a building site for the Aquatic Centre) that we took Jasper to puppy-school, and for many years afterwards it was one of a few favourite places for a run and play.

When you log this find I would like to hear about a dog that has a big impact on your life - be it your furry friend, a family pet, guide or rescue dogs or perhaps a TV dog if you are really desperate to join in. Photos are welcome too.

If you are just after the logbook to sign, stop reading now.

======================
Jasper is still sorely missed, even years later. The hardest day of our lifes was when we had to make the decision to let him go. Months of illness and drugged to the eyeballs - it was time.

For the sentimetalists amongst you - this was the prayer I read to him and Mrs Prime as the vet administered the final drugs and we held him in our arms as he went to sleep one last time.

Heavenly Father, Creator of all things,
Thank you for having entrusted us with this one special part of your creation. We know that you are here with us today, this hardest day, and we give thanks to you for allowing us to have so many wonderful years with Jasper; loved and loving puppy.

Jasper brought sunshine to us and was a vital part of our family. He played around to make us smile.
And when we were happy, he was joy unbounded.
He brought understanding where before was ignorance.
His head on a knee healed human hurts.
His presence by our side was protection against our fears and unknown things.

Thank you for letting him teach us unselfish love.
Thank you for letting him teach us forgiveness.
Thank you for letting him teach us the meaning of devotion.
Thank you for allowing us to have so many wonderful years with him.
Thank you for the memories that we can recall to brighten our days for the rest of our lives.

Lord, in gratitude, we return him to you..........

Jasper, we have loved you from the day you came into our life,
and now it is time for us to let you go.
We can not watch you suffer,
We can not see you in pain.
You would cuddle up to us when we were sick,
Now it's our last chance to do so for you

Today you are free.
Your body is no longer sick,
or weak, or hurting.
Now you can run with the others,
playing and hunting as wild things do.
Because we love you,
We have to let you go.
Today you get pats from God, instead of us.
You will live forever in our hearts.

Amen.
