Geocache Description:

This multi-cache is located on La Framboise Island which is surrounded by the Missouri River. To get there take the causeway from Pierre. You can either walk or mountain bike the trails as they are dirt, sand or gravel.

This cache will take you around the island where Lewis & Clark camped in 1804. An excerpt from Captain Clark's journal talks about the island:

September 25, 1804

"raised a Flag Staff and made a orning or shade on a sand bar in the mouth of the Teton River, for the purpose of Speeking with the Indians... we feel much at loss for the want of an interpreter the one we have can speek but little... met in Council... envited there Cheifs on board to show them our boat; soon began to be troublesom... Proceeded on about 1 mile and anchored out off a Williow Island, I call this Island bad humered Island as we were in a bad humer."

The island mentioned is now named La Framboise Island and the Teton River mentioned is now called the Bad River and it is visible from the island.

CACHE: The cache is an ammo box sporting a geocaching label. The clues are hidden in small rubbermaid containers painted black.
