The cache is located in the Perkins Farm Conservation Area. Parking and the entrance to the area are located behind the the Stop and Shop on Grafton St. and Jolma St.
From the book "Out-of-Doors in Worcester" by The Regional Environmental Council, Inc. (1998); "Perkins Farm Conservation Area is eighty acres of preserved woodland owned and actively managed by the Worcester Conservation Commissioin. Perkins Farm is Worcester's second largest conservation area, tucked behind the Grafton Street shopping plaza. This area is unique in that, unlike the city parks which are often multi-use recreational, the single purpose for which the land was set aside by the city of Worcester was for exclusively preservational purposes. The land is available for enjoyment by hikers on a carefully laid out trail system. Perkins Farm contains glacial boulders, oak forest, cellar holes, vernal pools, and stone walls."
The particular trail and cache location were chosen by AJ. I took the reading and got an 18ft. accuracy for her, as dogs don't seem to be able or willing to use GPS's well.
What I really liked about this location is that here you are in one of the busiest sections of Worcester, but in these woods, you just may forget where you are. As a note, don't get discouraged when you first walk in, as you will encounter some broken glass, old bonfire sites, and graffiti but it gets much cleaner as you walk in further. Hope you enjoy your hike.
