Lost2011: This beauty may be disappearing sooner rather than later, although that's been the case for years. Either way, this cache disappears from time to time and now is the time to finally archive after 5 years. Thanks for all the finds. #1 in this series is no more.

BEAUTY IN DECAY

This is the first geocache in the “Beauty In Decay” series, which highlights abandoned objects that once had purpose and now take on a different life, left to ruin and decay in their current surroundings.

Crazy Golf in Bournemouth is a popular attraction. Just down the road in Lower Gardens in one of the oldest course in the UK, dating back to 1931. Another Crazy Golf course was in Central Gardens before being removed to make way for a playground. This course, however, hasn’t seen any action for over a decade, and continues to allow nature to reclaim the land, creating an eerie place to stroll.

I used to have a geocache a short distance away which celebrated the history of Bournemouth, and in particular at this location, the former Winter Gardens. It is highly likely that in years to come when the council finally decide what to do with the land, this golf course will finally see it’s last demise, but until then, let’s enjoy nature reclaiming the land.

If anyone has any memories about the golf course, and are aware when it closed, please include these in your log.
