This cache has been archived.

ffmfmartin: It looks like my first cache has finally gone missing. It was a fun ride, but I’m going to archive this one to open the area up for new caches. Thank you everyone for making my first hide so special!!!

Geocache Description:

This is my first cache; therefore, I figured I would create a theme after my career: Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and place it near Kennestone Hospital. I chose this location because most of my patients are transported here.

Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) is an electrocardiograph (ECG/EKG) rhythm defined as: "A rapid heart rate (between 150-200 beats per minute) that is caused by electrical impulses that originate above the heart's ventricles". This rhythm is one of many electrocardiographs that Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics must know to treat cardiac emergencies. An EMT has 1 1/2 - 2 years of training and a Paramedic has approximately 2-3 years of training in medical and trauma emergencies. EMT/Paramedics are trained to do multiple medical procedures such as EKG/ECG interpretation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), intravenous (IV) line placement, over 100 medication administrations and injections, endotracheal intubation, aiding in childbirth, external defibrillation, transcutaneous pacing, cardioversion, rapid sequence induction, and needle decompression.

Next time you see an emergency vehicle running lights and sirens down the road, please yield to the right so they can make it to the emergency in a timely manner. Once found, please return the cache to its original spot and cover with brush for the next cacher to find. The finders of this cache will be prepared for any little emergency that could occur, but for the major emergencies don't forget to call 911!

The FTF will find a Squad 51 sticker from the show "Emergency" (the 70s show with Firefighter/Paramedic John Gage and Firefighter/Paramedic Roy DeSoto, based off of the beginning of EMS in the fire service) to remember where EMS began. *Congrats to Sassychicky, RN for the FTF!!!

***This cache is in honor of all of my brothers and sisters in public safety, especially the members we’ve lost***
