Geocache Description:

The Roman Period on Crete is always a bit overlooked, as most tourists come to see the Minoan Ruins. That said, the Roman period on Crete is a very interesting one and there are lots of things to see. This ruin is close to where we live and is situated above a lovely beach called Tholos. It was probably a large storage building as this was an important port in the Roman period. It also happens to be a beautiful spot.

This geocache is not hard to get to, just take the road from Kavousi to Tholos beach and follow it to the end. There is plenty of parking on the beach. This is a ruin, so take care when walking around it not to disturb it in any way. Check the hint to get a better idea where to look. The cache is a medium sized tupperware and we have placed a few goodies to share. Be sure to enjoy what Tholos has to offer. The beach is a bit pebbly in some places, but once in it has a lovely sandy bottom and is great for little ones. There is also a boat that can take you to the island of Pseira across the bay, which has a nice Minoan site to explore. So enjoy the sea, sun and cache!
