Good luck! and BYOP!

About this location: Surrounded by the bustling business park in Upper Merion Township is a long forgotten place that will take you back in time. The date is July 30th, 1787.  10 years have gone by since he and his troops endured the long winter at Valley Forge.  In town to attend the Constitutional Convention, George Washington has traveled from Philadelphia to stay at this location, the home of Jane Moore for 2 days with Gouverneur Morris, the Pennsylvania delegate to the Convention and author of the Preamble to the Constitution.  While on site, Morris fished for trout in the nearby creek while Washington rode throughout the area visiting farmers and recounting the harder times spent at Valley Forge years ago.

Over the years, this old farmhouse was expanded by notable builder A.D. Irwin and has served as an arboretum, the Township's community center and Park and Recreation offices. Today the property looks like it has seen better days and its future is uncertain.

The purpose of this and forthcoming cache's is to highight some historical and significant locations in and around Upper Merion Township, Pennsylvania.  Please tread lightly, think about those who have walked on this ground before you and as always, "Cache In, Trash Out".
