Geocache Description:

This cache is on a good footpath en route to an interesting old orchard, with plenty of other caches in this area if you haven't already bagged them.

The footpath to the cache is off Back Lane, Charnock Richard, not far from the bridge over the M6.

Further down the footpath is Magna Defender's Mushroom Man Survivors - Oudemansiella mucida GC1X81M. The remnants of old stone walls at that location are all that remain of Commissary Farm. In 1715 Bonnie Prince Charlie's Dad - The Old Pretender, made an advance southwards and his Commissary General set up a main storage depot here. The farm was demolished in the 1970's, but a neglected and derelict old orchard is still there. This year it has a fine crop (at the time of writing - 16 September 2015) of damsons and apples, but the pears haven't done well at all this year. Some well defined scrumpers trails show that other people are interested in this countryside larder.

The cache is a (largish) micro close to a stile on the footpath, just outside proximity limit from GC1X81M.
