Geocache Description:

The Carnarvon One Mile Jetty was built in 1897 and was the first port in Australia where live stock was transported regularly by sea. State ships came to Carnarvon on an average of twice a week until 1966. This was due to the main road south being sealed. The first steam locomotive to run along the jetty was the Kia Ora in 1909. The train was affectionately called the ‘Coffee Pot’ because of the shape of its smoke stack. The last steam train operated on in the 1950’s

The cache is a mid sized metal tube. There is no need to climb over the edge of the jetty and the cache is easily retrieved whilst standing on the jetty itself but it is not readily seen. Children must be accompanied on the jetty as it is rough in parts and is being restored in parts but the jetty is open to anyone at any time. Please put the cache back exactly as found, pushing it into its hidey hole. Don't drop it! Enjoy.     (Information sourced from the carnarvon heritage.com.au website)

PLease be aware that there is a $5 fee to walk the One Mile Jetty and that there is an honour box at the start of the jetty for after hours depositing of your payment.

Congratulations to fishingmad on your 'First To Find'. That was quick!
