A home named "Creeting" was located at this spot from about 1857 when the lot was sold at auction. John Stanford built the home (named for the village in Suffolk where his ancestors farmed). He raised a family of fourteen in the home, the only remains of which is the remnants of the fireplace. Very old fruit trees, grape vines and other plants from the original owner's time still grow nearby. The area was known as "Jack Whites Flat".
"Creeting" - built about 1858 - the pine tree is still there.
TAKE EXTRA CARE HERE
THIS IS A BUSY MAIN ROAD
Including children for this cache is not recommended unless they are VERY carefully supervised.
Cars "fly" along here at 100 kph or more. The road shoulders are quite narrow so extra care, especially if geocaching with children and/or crossing the road, is essential.
There is a good parking spot close by - more accessible if you are travelling north.
The geocache is not located inside the fence so please do not trespass on the private property.
The cache container holds a pencil and log sheet and may also take a small geocoin.
