Geocache Description:

You are seeking a short two stage multi cache that beings at the grave of J. Fred Koster, a Veteran of the Civil War. It is very likely that this veteran is related to a cacher from this area who now lives out of state, ZSandman; as they do share the same last name.

The search begins at his grave markers, one made of stone recognizing his family life, and a metal marker for his service during the civil war.

Fred enlisted in July 1862 and managed to survive to the end, being discharged in May 1865 in Meridian Mississippi. He served as a private in Company G of the 3rd Regiment of the Alabama Reserves. They were stationed in Norfolk, Virginia for most of the war and saw very limited action.

His pension noted that he suffered a fall and lost the use of his right arm leaving him unable to make a living.
