Geocache Description:

This "Restin'" cache is part of a series that will take you to local cemeteries - places of historic importance and interest. We introduce you to these cemeteries as a way of exploring our local history, and the people who were early settlers here. While you are visiting, reflect on their lives and contributions to the communites in which we live today. Please respect their resting place and ensure that extreme care is taken during your visit.

The oldest stone in Sandy Hill Cemetery dates back to 1798. In Edward Jessup III's will, dated 1830, the land then known as the Sand Hill was given as a "burial ground for the different churches in the Town of Prescott".

For much of the year you can drive to the back of the cemetery to find this small cache. In winter the gates on the roadway are closed, so you will have to walk in.
