Geocache Description:

At the listed coordinates is a stone based monument and plague that is titled the "Shire of Ballarat". The monument recognizes the involvement of the Shire's rural pioneers in the establishment of local government in this area. The first Ballarat District Road Board was elected in 1856 and this body later became the Council of the Shire of Ballarat in 1863 being the first Shire proclaimed in the Colony of Victoria.


Drive to this location and visit the monument for the actual dates of these significant events in the history of Ballarat. To find the final coordinates of this simple multi-cache use the dates to figure out the adjusted southing and easting coordinates.

The final coordinates are located at S 37 26.ABC, E 143 47.XYZ

where A = the month the BDRB was elected minus 4; where B = the month the BDRB was elected minus 5; where C = the month the BDRB was elected minus 8.

where X = the day the Shire was proclaimed divide by 6; where Y = the day the Shire was proclaimed divide by 4; where Z = the day the Shire was proclaimed divide by 3.
