It is either topical, or I mistyped the title...
Come to the entrance to the Hopetoun Estate to see a Big Gate [#biggate]. I wish I lived nearer Figgate Park, I could have had even more fun.
There is a big gate to the estate that inspired my choice of location.
In fact, long before this gate was constructed in the 1800s (the date is in the ironwork), and indeed before the deer park was established in the 1700s, the estate is rumoured to have been a big pig farm. OK, I am starting the rumour, but surely it must have been true that pigs were farmed here back in the day. I don't think they are farmed there now though.
In honour of this, the precursor of the current gate was festooned with metal pigs.
I am pleased with this cache, because apart from the log paper, it is constructed from a couple of items found in the carpark right here. If it gets wet it may become difficult to open. I will replace if necessary. Please keep me posted with your logs if this is an issue.
The usual great views of the river, bridges and Rosyth.
