Geocache Description:

A bonus mystery cache at a very special location! This cache is based on the castle of the Kings and Queens of Narnia - Cair Paravel. The castle itself is referenced to in almost all of the books. The quote below comes from the last chapter of the first book - The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe.

To find this cache, collect the bonus numbers from four caches throughout the series and use the formula given below.

"...In the Great Hall of Cair Paravel - that wonderful hall with the ivory roof and the west wall hung with peacock's feathers and the eastern door which looks towards the sea, in the presence of all their friends and to the sound of trumpets, Aslan solemnly crowned them and led them to the four thrones amid deafening shouts of, "Long Live King Peter! Long Live Queen Susan! Long Live King Edmund! Long Live Queen Lucy!"
"Once a king or queen in Narnia, always a king or queen. Bear it well, Sons of Adam! Bear it well, Daughters of Eve!" said Aslan.
And through the eastern door, which was wide open, came the voices of the mermen and the mermaids swimming close to the shore and singing in honour of their new Kings and Queens..."

In real life 'Cair Paravel' is known as The Hermitage and was built in the gothic style by the 2nd Earl of Clanbrassil during the 18th century as a memorial to his friend John Montague, the Marquise of Monthermer, who died aged 35 in 1770.
There are two circular chambered rooms in the Hermitage, the larger of which once held a bust with a Greek inscription honouring the Marquise of Monthermer.
Tea would have been brought to the ladies and gentlemen relaxing at the Hermitage. The ladies would have sat in the tea room to avoid getting tanned by the sun (which was considered unattractive then) whilst the men fished in the river.
Originally a wooden bridge crossed the river just upstream of the Hermitage but in the 19th Century this was replaced by a metal bridge on chains, known as the 'Swing Bridge'. Sadly this bridge fell into disrepair and was dismantled in 1936.
