Geocache Description:

The question was posed by an earlier cache in the area" Where are the flowers?  Its 12 months now since I found that one  so I decided to investigate just where are the flowers. This is the 2nd  in a series of caches about the wild flowers of the area along Wildflower Drive.

Philotheca verrucosa, commonly known as Bendigo Waxflower or Fairy Waxflower, is a shrub in the family Rutaceae. The species is endemic to south-east Australia.

Name meaning: Philotheca verrucosa

Philotheca - from two Greek words meaning 'naked' and 'covering' or 'box', apparently referring to the way the stamens are fused at the base into a glabrous tube,

verrucosa - from Latin, 'covered with warts'.

One of our favourite naturally occurring plants in the Junortoun area.  Please care for our environment and refrain from collecting flowers or plants as they are protected.

You are in a natural bush environment and may encounter wildlife you are not familiar with. Remember to tread carefully and be watchful for snakes and lizards in the warmer weather. Some of the bushes are also very spiney so if moving away from the obvious tracks be careful to avoid getting snared by them. If you are turning over stones and rocks please put them back the way they were facing before moving on. The critters will appreciate it.

.  Enjoy the journey and remember this is the Australia bushland so expect to be sharing it with the native inhabitants. tread carefully and warily especially during the warmer months

Cache is a small simesta container hidden in a way most geocachers will be familiar with. Please replace as found.

Take care and enjoy our Junortoun bushland.
